Héctor Díaz-Polanco is, most recently, the author of Indigenous Peoples In Latin America: The Quest For Self-determination (2018). He is a professor and researcher at the Centro de Investigaciones y Estudios Superiores en Antropología Social de México (CIESAS). Díaz-Polanco has advised the EZLN as well as the Miskito Indians of Nicaragua in their early negotiations with the Sandinista government.
