Caroline Lind became a socialist in high school and joined the Socialist Workers Party. She wrote frequently for party publications but resigned in the late 1980s. Lund worked in a number of different industries but her last job was at the NUMMI auto plant in Fremont, California. A production worker and member of UAW Local 2244, she put out a rank-and-file newsletter, “The Barking Dog” and was active in labor solidarity campaigns. She developed Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), or Lou Gehrig’s Disease, and was forced into retirement, dying in 2006.
