Roy Hong worked with the Korean Immigrant Workers Advocates (KIWA) in Los Angeles. KIWA is a membership organization with a mostly Latino and Korean worker base. Founded in 1992 in Koreatown, its purpose is to build the power of immigrant workers and residents through worker organizing. Hong is its founder and former executive director; he previously worked for SEIU, Local 87, in San Francisco. He is now affiliated with the California Nurses Association.
