Mike Parker worked as an electrician in the Detroit auto industry at Ford and Chrysler plants and for contractors from 1977 to 2007. He is the co-author, with Jane Slaughter, of Choosing Sides: Unions and the Team Concept (1988) and Working Smart: A Union Guide to Participation Programs and Reengineering (1994), challenging labor-management programs, and co-author, with Martha Gruelle, of Democracy Is Power (1999). Parker is a member of the RPA steering committee and a member of East Bay DSA.
