Meredith Tax is a political activist and writer. She was a founding president of Women’s World Organization for Rights, Literature and Development, an international free speech network of feminist writers and co-founder of the PEN American Center’s Women Committee and the International PEN Women Writers’ Committee. In addition to her earlier writings, she has written The Rising of the Women: Feminist Solidarity and Class Conflict, 1880-1917, two historical novels — Rivington Street and Union Square — and a children’s book, Families, a non-normative view of family.
