Melina Abdullah is a member of the Los Angeles County Human Rights Commission. She is the author of many articles on Hip Hop, movement building, and Black politics, including “The Emergence of a Black Feminist Leadership Model: African-American Women and Political Activism in the Nineteenth Century,” Black Women’s Intellectual Traditions: Speaking Their Minds (University of Vermont Press, 2007).
