Mark A. Lause is a history professor at the University of Cincinnati. With an interest in 19th century labor and social history, he has published of 10 books. His most recent are Free Labor The Civil War and the Making of an American Working Class, (University of Illinois Press, 2015) and Free Spirits: Spiritualism, Republicanism, Radicalism published in 2016.
