Lillian S. Robinson was the author of several books, including Sex, Class and Culture (1978), Wonder Women: Feminisms and Superheroes (2004) and, in collaboration with Ryan Bishop, Night Market: Thailand in Postcolonial Sexual Cartographies (1998). She maintained that gender could not usefully be studied except in relationship to race and class. She was a civil rights and antiwar activist until her death from cancer in 2006.
