Ken Saro-Wiwa was the author and producer of Africa’s most popular TV series of the mid-1980s, “Basi & Co.” He was the author novels, plays, poems, an autobiography and children’s books. His 1992 manifesto, Genocide in Nigeria: the Ogoni Tragedy, outlined their exploitation by both the Nigerian government and Shell Oil. Convicted of inciting to murder by a kangroo court, he and six others were executed in 1995.
