Judith E. Smith is a professor of American Studies at the University of Massachusetts-Boston. She writes about radical cultural expression on radio, TV, state and screen in the 1940 and ’50s. She is the author of Becoming Belafonte: Black Artist, Public Radical, 1946-1970 (University of Texas Press, 2014).
