James Jennings is professor emeritus of Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning, Tufts University. He is the author of several books, including The Politics of Black Empowerment: Transformation of Black Activism in Urban America and editor of Race, Politics, and Economic Development: Community Perspectives and Perspectives on Blacks and Poverty in Boston. He has been director of the William Monroe Trotter Institute of the University of Massachusetts, Boston.
