Heather Ann Thompson is the author of the Pulitzer prize-winning book Blood in the Water: The Attica Prison Revolt of 1971 and Its Legacy (Pantheon Books, 2016) as well as Whose Detroit? Politics, Labor, and Race in a Modern American City (new edition out May, 2017). A historian, she is on faculty of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor in the departments of Afro-American and African Studies, History, and the Residential College.
