Elizabeth “Betita” Martinez has been a movement activist since the Robert F. Williams case in the late 1950s. She is the author of half a dozen books, including (1969), 500 Years of Chicago History (1976) and 500 Years of Chicana Women’s History (2008) and edited Letters from Mississippi (1964 and reissued 2002).
