Danielle L. McGuire is an associate professor of history a Wayne State University. She is the author of the award-winning book At the Dark End of the Street, a study of the struggle against the rape of Black women in the 1940s South that brought together key figures, including Rosa Parks, who would spearhead the 1955 Montgomery bus boycott.
