Alice Kessler-Harris is R. Gordon Hoxie Professor emerita of American History at Columbia University, and former president of the Organization of American Historians. She is a specialist in the American labor as well as comparative and interdisciplinary exploration of women and gender. Her books include A Difficult Woman: The Challenging Life and Times of Lillian Hellman (2012) and Gendering Labor History (2007).
